Some probationary teachers decide to withdraw from the Teacher Induction Scheme and either choose to follow the Flexible Route or leave teaching altogether.

In cases where probationary teachers are thinking about withdrawing from the Teacher Induction Scheme and following the Flexible Route, they must speak to their local authority probation manager to make sure that the profile is completed as far as possible.

Once the local authority probation manager has received an official withdrawal notice from the probationer, the manager will withdraw the probationer within the profile system. An automated message will then be sent to us notifying us of the withdrawal.  We will then send the probationer a letter showing the number of days' satisfactory service to be credited towards the 270 day requirement on the Flexible Route. Only satisfactory service can be transferred. If a probationer leaves between Review Points, a claim can be made for additional satisfactory service to be added. The probationer must discuss this with the probationer manager and the form must be returned to us.

Read the withdrawal policy and if you wish to withdrawal complete the withdrawal request form. The policy and form are located on the right-hand side of this page.
