Time management for pupils

Teaching your pupils some time management of their own will help them to become more organised and make them less likely to waste time.

Teach your pupils the rules

Your pupils should be taught to come into class, coats off and get ready for the lesson without you asking them to do so over and over again. If they know the rules early on you will save time and stop repeating yourself.

Quality not quantity

Tell pupils that you want quality and not just quantity.  Rushing through work is a popular habit of pupils and they use the time left over to cause disruption and catch up on gossip. Time managing their work is a valuable lesson for them.

Teach organisational skills

Teach pupils how to organise their work, collate their information and put together ideas. They need to learn how to do this so teach these skills along with the knowledge.
