Initial Teacher Education (ITE)

Welcome to the Students area of the In2Teaching site. This area will provide you with all you need to know about applying for provisional registration with us.

  Initial registration fee payment

Once your pass details have been uploaded, you will be requested to pay the Initial Registration Fee of £65.00. The payment will be in the form of a direct debit which will be taken out on Thursday 20 July 2017. You are also required to check that your contact details are correct (see information to the right). Then you will be informed via email and text in advance to ensure that there is sufficient funds in the account for this payment. Those students who do not have a direct debit in force are being contacted by the Student Support Team. It is at this point that you change from being a student to becoming a probationer.

Provisional Registration Complete

Once payment has been successfully made, you are now considered a 'Provisionally Registered Teacher' and will receive an email confirming this which can be shared with other third party agencies. GTC Scotland no longer issue certificates of provisional registration and local authorities are aware of this.

We wish you all the very best during your probation year and for working towards becoming a fully registered teacher with GTCS.

The Standard for Provisional Registration (SPR) specifies what is expected of a student teacher seeking provisional registration with GTCS at the end of Initial Teacher Education. Having attained the SPR, all provisionally registered teachers continue their professional learning journey by moving towards the attainment of the Standard for Full Registration (SFR).

Updating your email contacts

Please remember to check that your contact details are up to date. The Student Support Team will email you if there are any queries. As university email accounts are only 'live' during the period of your studies, we suggest that you add a private email account as your preferred email when you graduate. You can do this through MyGTCS.

To change your email address, login to MyGTCS and select the CHANGE option displayed next to your email. If you have any queries, please contact the Student Support Team through the contact details on this page.

If you decide to tick the Preference Waiver Payment (PWP) box on your online application form, this means that you have agreed to work in any Scottish local authority.

If you would like to complete your probationary period in a denominational school, you will need to gain approval from the Scottish Catholic Education Service.
